Design Your Pathtag
Fun and easy — that’s the goal! Knowing how things work up front makes your experience smoother. This page is packed with info, but give it 15 minutes and you’ll be ready to design with confidence.
You're Part of the Team
You are the key player! It’s your job to review blueprints, request changes, and approve the final design. Don’t approve until it’s exactly what you want — no exceptions.
Learn how to avoid delays by understanding design limits, prepping your art properly, and using clear, specific language. This page covers it all.
Need Ideas?
Stuck? Great tags start with something personal — a photo, clip art, or even your forum avatar. Browse the Gallery or visit the Forums to see what others are creating or to ask for help.
Still nothing? Check out Ready-Made designs from our Design Partners. They’ll add your name to an existing tag — quick and easy!
Quick Tips for Great Tags
- Keep It Simple: Tags are quarter-sized — small, so clean designs work best.
- Be Clear: Mark hole position and important elements. Avoid vague terms — add notes if needed.
- Front vs Back: You design the front; pick a standard back from our options.
- No Gradients On Traditional Tags: Enamel isn’t ink — avoid gradients. Ask a Design Partner for help if needed. If you want gradients, check out our Flashtag offering.
- Use Bold Bright Colors: Up to 10 colors are allowed on traditional tag, unlimited with Flashtags. Often with color - less is more!
- Skip 3D Effects: Multi-level designs void our warranty — advanced users only.
- Detail Smartly: Tiny features may not reproduce well. Simpler is safer.
- Upload Correctly: Submitting art at ~1000x1000 pixels is enough. If higher res is needed, it’s probably too detailed.
Tag Specs & Guidelines
Designing a Pathtag is exciting — turning your idea into a real tag is incredibly rewarding!
It’s both a creative and technical process.
Traditional Tags: Your design is converted into a blueprint before production, which may include changes to ensure it meets manufacturing standards. You'll need to review and approve this blueprint before we proceed.
Flashtags: These use high-resolution printing. What you send is what gets printed. There’s no blueprint or edits, so you can use gradients and photos — but there are still technical limits to consider.
Note: These are guidelines only. Designs with glitter or glow need 2–3× more spacing between colors due to how they're filled.

Some of these are free but some cost a bit extra per tag. Pricing is listed with each tag for your reference. Give Backs cost a little extra, but that extra money goes to the organization or charity featured on that back. It's a great way to show your style and support your favorite group or cause.
