I was a child when Sesame Street was first aired on TV. I was a couple years older than the target audience but I was enchanted with the muppets. From the welcoming theme song to the goings on in the neighborhood, we had never seen anything like it. Color TV had only been popular in homes for a few years and the sights and sounds of Sesame Street were so vibrant. We didn’t really consider the show to be just for those who were still learning their letters and numbers.
