Pacific Lamprey Challenge

When the US Fish and Wildlife Department wanted to create a challenge cache series to educate the public about the Pacific Lamprey, they wanted to give participants something to remember the experience by.  They were looking for a gift that would be meaningful to Geocachers, but which is available on a budget.  They selected Pathtags!

The only way to get their beautiful tag is by completeing the cache series, located just Southwest of Olympia, Washington.

Here are all six mystery cache sites:
The overall goals of this program are:
  • Educate the public about the Pacific Lamprey
  • Educate the public about the Chehalis River Basin and the partners working to conserve/restore it.

Walton Robotics FIRST Team 2974 Pathtag

FIRST is a nonprofit organization founded by famed inventor Dean Kamen to promote Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) careers among young people. The vehicle for making this happen is a program of competitive robotics tournaments for children as young as Kindergarten through high school.

In 2013, Walton Robotics Team 2974 decided to do something special to leave a lasting impression on the people they "crossed paths with" at their competition.  They created a Pathtag to give to other attendees!

Lisa Malice, one of the team's mentors, said "The pathtags were a big hit with the students because it was a unique give-away and because of the creative approach to spreading our message. Geocachers I met loved it, but the muggle families I talked with were really intrigued! We are starting to see log ins pop up on our tag map, including the ones I sent to Australia and Oregon to collectors who agreed to place them in geocaches."

"I just wanted to let you know how happy I am with my Christmingo tag!! It's awesome! I know I sent it back a couple of times but the final blueprint was incredible!! I am so pleased with this one! Thank you so much for having patience with me! Keep up the great work!!"

"Just letting you know that my pathtags arrived safely and I am over the moon with them. Being an Australian I felt that my first should be an Australian icon and I love how it has turned out and everyone I have shown it to has loved it. Thank you."

"Thank you so very much to Pathtags and the designer of the tag, Sunset Tags. The wonderful art of the tag is incredible. This tag is so much better than we had expected. We had fast service from both Pathtags and Sunset Tags. The detail of the work is awesome, and we are proud to leave this signature tag in the geocaches we find. "

"Back in May, I designed my pathtag while deployed to Iraq. Two days ago when I got home, I saw my tag in person for the very first time. Suffice to say I was very pleased with how it turned out, so thanks for your quality work in minting it. Now I have to get cracking on fulfilling a number of trade requests... CT"

"We received our tags this weekend and just LOVE them!!"

"My design had a lot of lines & crosshatching to achieve a "sketched" look and I was very nervous about attempting this with a pathtag. Boy, was I ever surprised! They captured every little line in every direction. I am amazed how great they turned out and now absolutley love the risk I took. Thanks so much for this wonderful site & its products. Signature items just got a lot more exciting!"

"My first tag was a personal tag with my own Icelandic horse Sina. Really enjoyed the outcome. It seemed fun to prepare a xmas tag for my family and to drop in caches. The design came out beautifully, only problem was I only had ordered 50! I forgot about the online trading community and the busy trading for xmas tags."

"My submission for the SciFi Club. Love the way the glitter turned out! Thanks for another awesome tag!"

"WOW!! I can't believe (ok, I can) how well these tags came out! The Airstream is soooo shiny!! After all the time spent on the flamingos they came out awesome! You guys did a FANTASTIC job!! Keep up the great work!!!"
