Pacific Lamprey Challenge

When the US Fish and Wildlife Department wanted to create a challenge cache series to educate the public about the Pacific Lamprey, they wanted to give participants something to remember the experience by.  They were looking for a gift that would be meaningful to Geocachers, but which is available on a budget.  They selected Pathtags!

The only way to get their beautiful tag is by completeing the cache series, located just Southwest of Olympia, Washington.

Here are all six mystery cache sites:

The overall goals of this program are:
  • Educate the public about the Pacific Lamprey
  • Educate the public about the Chehalis River Basin and the partners working to conserve/restore it.
  • Connect People With Nature via geocaching

Walton Robotics FIRST Team 2974 Pathtag

FIRST is a nonprofit organization founded by famed inventor Dean Kamen to promote Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) careers among young people. The vehicle for making this happen is a program of competitive robotics tournaments for children as young as Kindergarten through high school.

In 2013, Walton Robotics Team 2974 decided to do something special to leave a lasting impression on the people they "crossed paths with" at their competition.  They created a Pathtag to give to other attendees!

Lisa Malice, one of the team's mentors, said "The pathtags were a big hit with the students because it was a unique give-away and because of the creative approach to spreading our message. Geocachers I met loved it, but the muggle families I talked with were really intrigued! We are starting to see log ins pop up on our tag map, including the ones I sent to Australia and Oregon to collectors who agreed to place them in geocaches."

"I received my very first Pathtag today and I am just thrilled! Your staff was exceptional in working with me to get the design just right before it went in to production and I received my tag less than 4 weeks after having submitted the final blueprint. I couldn't be happier and have two others in production right now that I can't wait to receive!"

"We got our tag today, ahead of schedule and on my birthday no less. The entire process from design to production was amazing. The tags look better in person that we ever could have imagined. Thanks to webdesignbyjandj for the awesome design. Can't wait to put the next one together!"

"I was introduced to Pathtags by my mother and father and even more at The Midwest Geobash of 2009. I had a set of two tags made for my past Hazard--Perry County Tour IV Weekend Geocaching Event and sold some of my tags to other geocachers in my area as well as in other places of the United States and other countries and then began trading them here on pathtags.com. I enjoy and have enjoyed trading my tags with several collectors of tags in the US as well as in other countries. My wife daughter and I have been trading with several collectors on here and have worked on getting a design made for each one of us. We will be ordering them and will want to trade them real soon thanks to Tekkguy for the designs. I love pathtags. I almost like them better than coins and have enjoyed every minute of collecting them and trading them."

"Just got my tag I had made for my 500th Geocache find and what can I say very impressive."

"I received an invitation to join the "Bird Club" I chose the Eastern Wild Turkey as my bird of choice because of my passion of hunting them. This tag looks absolutely great. The blueprint didn't do the tag itself any justice. The first day alone I traded 13 of these to other bird club members. Thanks for producing such high quality tags for us. T-Hunter Continental, OH"

"Our group (Escapees GeoCachers) recently received our first tags. We LOVE them and are very excited to be sharing them with others. The workmanship is top notch and the colors are vibrant. We look forward to planning tags that commemorate our activities as both cachers and Rv'ers. Thanks so much!"

"An awesome experience on our first Pathtag. We were looking for a reasonably priced signature item for our team, and this Pathtag is perfect. The thing about this experience that has been above and beyond is that you can also trade with people all over the world. We're hooked on it now and have a good start on our collection."
