Pacific Lamprey Challenge

When the US Fish and Wildlife Department wanted to create a challenge cache series to educate the public about the Pacific Lamprey, they wanted to give participants something to remember the experience by.  They were looking for a gift that would be meaningful to Geocachers, but which is available on a budget.  They selected Pathtags!

The only way to get their beautiful tag is by completeing the cache series, located just Southwest of Olympia, Washington.

Here are all six mystery cache sites:

The overall goals of this program are:
  • Educate the public about the Pacific Lamprey
  • Educate the public about the Chehalis River Basin and the partners working to conserve/restore it.

Walton Robotics FIRST Team 2974 Pathtag

FIRST is a nonprofit organization founded by famed inventor Dean Kamen to promote Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) careers among young people. The vehicle for making this happen is a program of competitive robotics tournaments for children as young as Kindergarten through high school.

In 2013, Walton Robotics Team 2974 decided to do something special to leave a lasting impression on the people they "crossed paths with" at their competition.  They created a Pathtag to give to other attendees!

Lisa Malice, one of the team's mentors, said "The pathtags were a big hit with the students because it was a unique give-away and because of the creative approach to spreading our message. Geocachers I met loved it, but the muggle families I talked with were really intrigued! We are starting to see log ins pop up on our tag map, including the ones I sent to Australia and Oregon to collectors who agreed to place them in geocaches."

"I was introduced to pathtags by my mother and father and even more at The Midwest Geobash of 2009. I had a set of two tags made for my past Hazard--Perry County Tour IV Weekend Geocaching Event and sold some of my tags to other geocachers in my area as well as in other places of the United States and other countries and then began trading them here on pathtags.com. I enjoy and have enjoyed trading my tags with several collectors of tags in the US as well as in other countries. I love Pathtags!!"

"Just received our first pathtag today, Rick at TattoinDesigns did a phenomenal job in the design. I am so looking forward to sharing this with my cousin "LoonyLori" on our trip to NM this March. She will be so surprised. I am not looking to trade any at this time."

GramaCindy59

"I sent the blueprint back and forth several times worried my tag wouldn't work out as well as I had hoped -- and I was right. It turned out better! I am now a full-fledged Pathtag convert! These are great caching items, more affordable than a coin and an awful lot of fun to trade. I enjoy the tags and the workmanship is incredible. The company is easy and great to deal with, too, which makes the experience all that much better. Thanks and I can't wait to make my next tag!"

"I had a tag made as a present for another geocaching friend of mine. I can't believe how perfect it turned out! She is going to love them. Thanks for adding something new and fun to the geocaching experience!"

"We love our new Pathtags. We were a bit wary to try a new type of signature item. But the ease of your ordering process took a lot of the pressure away. The cost was very reasonable and the product is EXCELLENT. We will be showing them off this weekend at a Geocaching event near our hometown. We will be re-ordering soon."
