When the US Fish and Wildlife Department wanted to create a challenge cache series to educate the public about the Pacific Lamprey, they wanted to give participants something to remember the experience by.  They were looking for a gift that would be meaningful to Geocachers, but which is available on a budget.  They selected Pathtags!

The only way to get their beautiful tag is by completeing the cache series, located just Southwest of Olympia, Washington.

Here are all six mystery cache sites:

The overall goals of this program are:

Walton Robotics FIRST Team 2974 Pathtag

FIRST is a nonprofit organization founded by famed inventor Dean Kamen to promote Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) careers among young people. The vehicle for making this happen is a program of competitive robotics tournaments for children as young as Kindergarten through high school.

In 2013, Walton Robotics Team 2974 decided to do something special to leave a lasting impression on the people they "crossed paths with" at their competition.  They created a Pathtag to give to other attendees!

Lisa Malice, one of the team's mentors, said "The pathtags were a big hit with the students because it was a unique give-away and because of the creative approach to spreading our message. Geocachers I met loved it, but the muggle families I talked with were really intrigued! We are starting to see log ins pop up on our tag map, including the ones I sent to Australia and Oregon to collectors who agreed to place them in geocaches."

"I started having tags made at the beginning of 2009 and this is my 14th of now 16 tags. Needless to say I believe in the quality and consistency of these little buggers. It is a good artful release and the tag community is fantastic and fun to communicate with. This tag was a labor of love from me and the designer. It took a while to get it "right" but the tag team worked with me every inch of the way and the final product is STELLAR ! Much thanks to the tag team at Pathtags and my designer Jamie. You could even say it glows ! "

"ROCKY GLEN GROMMETS received their first shipment of tags today - Grom2 will especially like the Yamaha Blue and Grom1 will love the orange of KTM - whilst we all love the leg that Australia stands on (Yorke Peninsula). Midnightgothicangel has done a great job in helping us with our designs - just ordered another 4 (based on the Curramulka Emu)"

"ROCKY GLEN GROMMETS received the first of their EMU Tags today - ENVIRO EMU - and he's an absolute stunner! He's been admired up close and personal and from afar - midnightgothicangel has done an absolutely brilliant job in the design and we are just in awe of our ENVIRO EMU TAG - thank you all at Pathtags from production to shipping - we are delighted!"

Rocky Glen Grommets

"Received my tags today and I'm very pleased with them. They look better in 3D than the 2D blueprint. I was worried the colors wouldn't blend together. I designed the pathtag myself and was thinking paying someone else the next time but after see the tag in my hand I will be designing my own again. Everyone was great to work with the resubmittals I had and their were a few. I have added additional photos to compare them. Great Job will be designing another one soon."

"Got my first Path Tag today and they are great! Ordering was easy and it really didn't take that long."

"I just love all the color and detail that explode off these tiny bits of metal. One of the many great things about these tags are the reactions people submit when they find your tag in a cache. The life of a Pathtag doesn't end when they get shipped! I enjoy the trades and the excitement shared when someone discovers a tag. Thank you for your continued amazing work, attention to detail and the system that keeps the Pathtag community alive."
