Pacific Lamprey Challenge

When the US Fish and Wildlife Department wanted to create a challenge cache series to educate the public about the Pacific Lamprey, they wanted to give participants something to remember the experience by.  They were looking for a gift that would be meaningful to Geocachers, but which is available on a budget.  They selected Pathtags!

The only way to get their beautiful tag is by completeing the cache series, located just Southwest of Olympia, Washington.

Here are all six mystery cache sites:
The overall goals of this program are:
  • Educate the public about the Pacific Lamprey
  • Educate the public about the Chehalis River Basin and the partners working to conserve/restore it.
  • Connect People With Nature via geocaching

Walton Robotics FIRST Team 2974 Pathtag

FIRST is a nonprofit organization founded by famed inventor Dean Kamen to promote Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) careers among young people. The vehicle for making this happen is a program of competitive robotics tournaments for children as young as Kindergarten through high school.

In 2013, Walton Robotics Team 2974 decided to do something special to leave a lasting impression on the people they "crossed paths with" at their competition.  They created a Pathtag to give to other attendees!

Lisa Malice, one of the team's mentors, said "The pathtags were a big hit with the students because it was a unique give-away and because of the creative approach to spreading our message. Geocachers I met loved it, but the muggle families I talked with were really intrigued! We are starting to see log ins pop up on our tag map, including the ones I sent to Australia and Oregon to collectors who agreed to place them in geocaches."

Pathtags in Texas State Parks

Texas State Parks is bringing a fun and challenging geocaching activity to adventure seekers and beginners alike.  The Statewide Texas State Parks Geocache Challenge kicked off earlier this summer and has been very popular, with more than 2,500 logged finds in just two short months; awards include geocoins and limited edition Pathtags.  In addition to the Geocache Challenge awards, a series of commemorative, park-themed Pathtags will be introduced for purchase in September at many Texas State Park Stores.  These Pathtags will become part of an exciting mix of products already available for sale to help commemorate your park visit; you'll find items such as patches, hiking stick medallions, t-shirts, and more.  Read the full article for more details on how Pathtags are being used to attract visitors and reward participation in their park programs, as well as for a list of parks who will have custom Pathtags for purchase in their shops!

"Just Got My Tags I Love them!!!!!!!!"

Team KOS crew

"Just got my tag I had made for my 500th Geocache find and what can I say very impressive."

"I loved Ver. 1 of this tag but Ver. 2 is a lot better. My name adds to my Ham Radio Call Sign and the custom ID on the back is fantastic, I love it. The colors are great, they represent two flags. Excellent work!!!"

"Back in May, I designed my pathtag while deployed to Iraq. Two days ago when I got home, I saw my tag in person for the very first time. Suffice to say I was very pleased with how it turned out, so thanks for your quality work in minting it. Now I have to get cracking on fulfilling a number of trade requests... CT"

"Creating a Pathtag is something I'd been thinking about for a couple of years. Once I decided to really pursue it, everything moved along very smoothly. Yesterday, my Pathtags arrived. I'm so pleased with the outcome that I have already begun to ponder how I could make an even better one!"

"I am beyond excited about our new pathtags! We weren't sure how they were going to turn out with our much lacking graphic design. But they turned out AWESOME!! Thank you so much. Now we are already planning a new design. Thank you PATHTAGS you guys put out such a quality product! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!"

"Pathtags offer something for everyone. They are a classy and inexpensive signature item to drop into geocaches. They are also fun collectibles that are easily traded with other Pathtag collectors. If you become addicted to them, you might even join one of the many Pathtag forum community clubs. My Iron Man tag was part of the Super Hero Club, which was my first club tag."

Imperial Walkers

"REDCAR was a travel bug who went to the Middle East and back. Then was lost in the states. It is also my name sake. We have a 1964 red vett and I could not think of a better name for my self. As you know red vett are made to go FAST and that is just what I like to do. This tag was designed as my signature item, which I leave in caches that I find. When I wanted to trade Pathtags the REDCAR had to be the one. I think this tag is beautiful with the red glitter, make the tag shine."

"I just got my set of tags today, and they are perfect! I was a little worried about the detail showing up, or the colors being off, or something, but everything looks great. There is a neat contrast between the dolphin with its gray enamel and silver silhouette of the diver, all surrounded by a beautiful sea of translucent blue. I can't help holding and admiring my new tags!"

"Just got my first ever pathtag order and they look great. The tags are better than expected."
