Walton Robotics FIRST Team 2974 Pathtag

FIRST is a nonprofit organization founded by famed inventor Dean Kamen to promote Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) careers among young people. The vehicle for making this happen is a program of competitive robotics tournaments for children as young as Kindergarten through high school.

In 2013, Walton Robotics Team 2974 decided to do something special to leave a lasting impression on the people they "crossed paths with" at their competition.  They created a Pathtag to give to other attendees!

Lisa Malice, one of the team's mentors, said "The pathtags were a big hit with the students because it was a unique give-away and because of the creative approach to spreading our message. Geocachers I met loved it, but the muggle families I talked with were really intrigued! We are starting to see log ins pop up on our tag map, including the ones I sent to Australia and Oregon to collectors who agreed to place them in geocaches."

"I found my first PathTag in Sept 2007, but didn't have one of my own made until May 2009. In the past year I have experienced the joy of creating my own PathTags and collecting them 8 times now. I had an idea for a tag design for the Pern Club on the PathTags Forums. With an excellent artwork by TX Dreamweaver and the great work by the PathTags blueprinters my Pern tag was born. I had concerns about it's producibility given the many small details in the design. When I received my tags I couldn't be more pleased. They look fantastic. I'm working on the design for my next tag now. Stay tuned. . ."

"Just Got My Tags I Love them!!!!!!!!"

"An awesome experience on our first Pathtag. We were looking for a reasonably priced signature item for our team, and this Pathtag is perfect. The thing about this experience that has been above and beyond is that you can also trade with people all over the world. We're hooked on it now and have a good start on our collection."

"Being new to Geocaching - we weren't too sure what to do when we first discovered a Pathtag - but we soon learned and found a new hobby as well. It is so much fun to find a new one and see where it came from and learn about the owners. I decided to order one for my husband's birthday (he is hard to buy for), so I contacted one of the designers that you have listed, and she helped me with this wonderful design. I think the glitter really adds to it. Luckily, the tags arrived on Saturday and Sunday was his Birthday - so they came in just in time to give them to him. We have had a large amount of interest in them since I put them on the site Saturday night. Thanks for offering this fun way of adding to our Geocaching. We will be dropping them off in some special caches as we go along."

"If you would have said in 2007 that I would have pathtags made as a signature coin, I would have said you were off your rocker. ;) My husband found the game of Geocaching in September of 2007, by accident, with the purchase of a GPSr. As we were working different shift schedules, he evenings and I working days...he spent quite a bit of time "nightcaching". I later got more involved after we met some great people who are now great friends. Then pathtags were discovered! When I learned that these were items you could keep, unlike the travel coins, I was hooked! This is our first pathtag and much to my husband's dismay, this may be as bad as my "purse and shoes addictions". Thanks for all the patience in getting this one just right. :) "

"ROCKY GLEN GROMMETS received the first of their EMU Tags today - ENVIRO EMU - and he's an absolute stunner! He's been admired up close and personal and from afar - midnightgothicangel has done an absolutely brilliant job in the design and we are just in awe of our ENVIRO EMU TAG - thank you all at Pathtags from production to shipping - we are delighted!"

"These tags are such great symbols of each creator! I snapped a picture of my three boys during a caching adventure and thought it would make a great tag. The idea of adding glitter to make my boys "special" to others was too much to resist. Flash Tag Designs took an "OK" picture, tweaked and detailed and now I have...WOW....a reminder of a great day my cache buddies and I had. It also provides an opportunity for me to brag about and show off my "kids". Excellent work Pathtags team! The details, colors and commitment to quality make each masterpiece worth the wait!"

"I really love that a lot of the details were able to come through on this beautiful tag. I was a little reluctant to try this design, but I am sure glad I did. It came out wonderful. Thanks!"
