Tag #20072 - Mockingjay II

This tag represents the symbol of hope in the best- selling trilogy, "The Hunger Games". 

In this fictional series the mockingjay was a hybrid bird which resulted from an unintended cross between a mockingbird and a jabberjay.  The bird was capable of mimicking melodious tunes which it heard being sung by humans. 

In the series the main character, a young girl named Katniss, openly defied the central government as a participant in the annual hunger games.  Unwittingly she  became known as the Mockingjay because she symbolized hope and freedom to the oppressed people of Panem. 

The three books are great reading for both young and old alike.  Our family found it hard to put them down once we got started.
