This tag was made for a club, where members made tags of their favourite TV shows from the 60s and 70s. I chose Petticoat Junction for a variety of reasons. As a child this was one of three programs I particularly enjoyed. The others were Greenacres and Beverly Hillbillies. The three shows were set in neighbouring locations and characters from one program often appeared in the other two. Even though I knew it was a made up world, this made the shows seem more realistic to me.
In Petticoat Junction Kate Bradley operates the Shady Rest Hotel near the train line between Hooterville and Pixley. Uncle Joe "helps" her, as do her three daughters Bobby Jo, Billy Jo and Betty Jo. The family also has a small dog, who features in most episodes. Over the years the girls get into all sorts of scrapes and experience romance, marry and have children of their own. I often used to imagine I was one or other of the girls! The show often used to open with the train whistle sounding and the girls, who had been bathing in the water tank, pulling on their clothes in time to meet guests arriving at the Hotel. Thus the tag shows the water tank with their three petticoats draped over the edge.
