We created this pathtag to celebrate the sesqui-centenary of copper being discovered at Wallaroo Mines.
Copper was discovered on a wombat burrow by a shepherd named James Boor on December 17 1859. Little did he realise the bonanza this would create for the area (now known as the Copper Triangle).
A shaft was sunk at the site of the burrow and became known as 'Home Shaft'.
The mines area is only old ruins now, but a monument and plaque can be found at the site of the burrow. A pleasant stroll finding 4 or 5 caches in the area will give you a tour.
There are various activities being held in the area to celebrate the 150-year anniversary.
I would like a rest from pathtag trading for a while and so you will only see this for the time being because you have found a tag in a cache, or I have given you one. We hope you enjoy having it in your collection.
OK - so I have had a relapse and have been wishlisting and offering Wally for trades. Now I am going to have a rest.
